PRAYER SCHOOL
Tuesdays beginning October 1st
9:15 AM -9:45 AM

Prayer School begins again on October 1st in the UCMI Sanctuary and will continue through April 2020.

The focus for prayer study through 2019 will be Psalm 23.

Following Prayer School, join Pastor Mark Williams in the Sunset Conference Room for Bible Study at 10am!

GRIEFSHARE - ”Surviving the Holidays”
Wednesdays beginning November 6th
10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Wondering how you will survive the weeks surrounding Thanksgiving and Christmas? Are you dreading these holidays, knowing that everything has changed and that happy memories from past years can’t be recreated?

Our Surviving the Holidays seminar is especially for people who are grieving a loved one’s death. You’ll learn how to deal with the many emotions you’ll face during the holidays, what to do about traditions and other coming changes, helpful tips for surviving social events, and how to discover hope for your future.

VETERAN’S SEMINAR
Thursday, November 14th

Pastor Kathy Sprague, Dennis Eckles, and United Church's Men’s Fellowship will be hosting an educational seminar for Marco Island Veterans.

ALL Marco Island Veterans are invited to join us! Come hear Mr. David Soldano, the Veteran Outreach Specialist of Naples Vet Center, speak on the topic of: "Re-adjustment Counseling Services" which are now provided by the Department of Veteran Affairs."

Mr. Soldano is joined by Mr. Mark Beland, an educational speaker for AVOW Hospice and Community Liaison for Naples and Marco Island Veterans. Mark will also be speaking on the, "We Honor Veterans Program".

* "Re-adjustment Counseling Services, provided by the Department of Veteran Affairs, will be on campus that day to assist veterans with questions and administrative services.
* A brown bag lunch plus soft drinks will be provided by the United Church of Marco Island through Publix during the lunch hour. Please RSVP to reserve a lunch bag.

CHRISTMAS CAROLING TROLLEY RIDE
December 1st, 2019
5:00 PM

Join members of the congregation for the annual Christmas caroling event. The trolly will pick everyone up at the Church at 5:00 PM. We will stop at various houses and bless them with beautiful Christmas carols.

Following the caroling, all are invited to join us for dinner in Dissler Hall at 6:00 PM.

GRIEFSHARE SEMINAR - “Loss of a Spouse”
Wednesday, December 4th 10:30 AM
Dissler Hall Conference Room

This is a Ministry open to all grieving Widows, Widowers.  Do you dread the lonely days and nights? Wonder what to do with your spouse’s belongings? Feel like your brain is in a fog? Unsure of how you’ll go on? At this Loss of a Spouse seminar you’ll discover other people understand and have found ways to make it through, why it won’t always hurt so much, reasons for hope, and practical tips for coping with the death of a spouse.

There will be a blue Christmas Litany at the end of the seminar discussion with lighting of memorial candles.

If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before. Our GriefShare group, led by Pastor Kathy Sprague, Pat K., and Kathy E., meets weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life.

CARETAKER’S COLLEGE SERIES SEMINAR
February 12th, 19th, 26th

Join us in Disseler Hall for three sessions provided by the Gulf Alzheimer’s Association. This will be a seminar of three weeks in succession offering three different speakers addressing the topics:

1. Communication and Behavior
2. What Do I Need? Offering Local Resources
3. Caring for the Caregiver.

OLD FASHIONED PIE CONTEST
Friday, February 14th at 12:00 PM

Who wouldn’t agree that in today’s fast paced, high stressed times the simple pleasure of “PIE EATING” is needed more than ever before?  And an old fashioned Pie Baking Contest is a fun way for families and communitites to unite on common ground. Your $10.00 ticket will entitle you to a large bowl of Old Fashioned Chicken Vegetable Soup, one piece of pie,  and coffee, iced tea or water. All challengers must sign up on our “sign-up sheet” in the Church Lobby.  Three Catagories to be judged include: Fruit Pies, Nut Pies and Cream Pies.

Please purchase your $10.00 tickets after Sunday services January 17th through  February 9th, or in our Church office M-Th from 8:30am -3:30pm.  All proceeds go to the MemberCare Department 2020 ministry endeavors.
