At United Church, the responsibilities of ministry are divided into ministries.  In that way, we work as a team, sharing and lightening the load of performing the many tasks required to keep a ministry and facility such as this moving forward.

Governing Board

Deuteronomy 10: 12
What does the Lord your God require of you?  Only to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord your God.

The Governing Board, made up of elected Church leaders and a representative from each ministry and the congregation, is responsible for coordinating the over all ministry of the Church.  Each ministry is able to assign committees as needed to accomplish the various tasks.  Click on each Ministry to see the myriad of activities and responsibilities they share.

Ministry of Worship

The Ministry of Worship in coordination with the Ministry of Music, is responsible for overseeing and administering the services of worship and music.  It is also responsible for pastoral care, Stephen Ministry and the spiritual formation of the congregation.

Ministry of Music

The Ministry of Music in coordination with the Ministry of Worship, is responsible for overseeing and administering the total music program and worship services of the Church.

Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education is responsible for overseeing the education of the children, youth, confirmands and adults of the Church in coordination and cooperation with the Senior Minister and the appropriate members of the Church Staff.

Ministry of Administration

What good is it, my brothers and sister, if you say you have faith but do not have works?  Faith, if it has not works, is dead.

The Ministry of Administration is responsible for the day-to-day management of all the business and administrative affairs of the Church.  It is also responsible for the financial, personnel and facilities management of the Church, including the Bargain Basket thrift shop and the Bazaar.  The administrative Ministry also oversees public relations and publicity, as well as professional and all support staff functions, and administers memorials and special gifts.

Ministry of Church Life & Growth

The Ministry of Church Life & Growth in coordination with the Ministry of Church Fellowship, is responsible for planning and overseeing membership growth and new member assimilation activities and strategies.

Ministry of Stewardship

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

The Ministry of Stewardship is responsible for planning and implementing pledge drives, special fund raising drives, promoting on-going stewardship education to the congregation, recruiting church volunteers through a time and talent drive, and overseeing The United Church of Marco Island Endowment Ministries

Ministry of Outreach

The Ministry of Outreach is responsible for bringing the mission of the Church to the congregation, the community and the world.  It includes addressing social concerns, through opportunities for giving, hands on ministry, outreach ministry and interfaith cooperation.  This ministry oversees various committees such as Mission, Bargain Basket, Bazaar, etc. which raise funds for the Church and its mission, and to reach out to those in need in our community.

Ministry of Human Resources & Nominating

I Corinthians 3: 9
For we are God's servants, working together; you are God's field, God's building.

The Ministry of Human Resources & Nominating recommends to the Congregation, after approval of the Governing Board, names and terms of office of members to be elected at an annual meeting for positions of church officers, representatives of the congregation (at-large members) and members of the various ministries.  In between annual meetings, this ministry recommends replacements and appointments to the Governing Board, which acts on behalf of the congregation.  This Ministry recruits volunteers and maintains records pertaining to the interests of members for the various positions and volunteer activities within the Church.

It shall also be responsible for submitting the names of members it recommends be appointed by the Governing Board as an additional Church Officer or as Steward of the United Church of Marco Island Endowment Ministries and be appointed by the Governing Board and each Ministry to any Committee that may be established.
